Are voluntary micropayments persuasive enough

So why on earth would someone really want to donate money to keep web authors/publishers earning a crust? Well I guess if you are like me, someone who say reads newspapers occasionally, and may indulge in the leisurely pursuit of reading a weekend newspaper. Have you come across some articles that entertain and stimulate the mind, possibly to the point that you may decide, that this person deserves to be recognised for his/her efforts. However in print, you have no access to providing immediate feedback and certainly no way of rewarding the author, but with electronic content you are now sitting on something incredibly powerful.

Ok this may still be a pipe dream, but you could possibly persuade individuals to give if:

The  approach was unobtrusive, i.e. it must not be some complicated to use. So repeatedly  having to enter user information and passwords is forbidden

Provides instant graphical feedback on who you were supporting, and how much you had donated.

Able to withdraw or return later, with no financial lock in

Able to see how your support encourages and promotes the web author/publisher into producing further content, which is now being appreciated by others.

Receive suggestions for similar content. E.g. if you liked this, this may also interest you

Able to make comments, and get feedback

Must be something fun to use

So if you are like me, still sitting on 2 tons of Sunday newspaper, and only reading/following articles on property/money/motoring, time to switch over to electronic content, and support the information you are interested in.
